HR: Some Tips For Onboarding Via E-Learning

Onboarding is an important process for all companies. After all, it is essential to introduce identified top performers to the organization’s culture and their new tasks.

Equally important is to motivate their enthusiasm further, setting the course for long-term cooperation. But what do you need to pay attention to when implementing an onboarding program via eLearning?

A familiar environment goes a long way.

Even though each company creates and applies its corporate training design, learners unconsciously appreciate familiar elements.

There is always an implicit comparison with other applications and websites known from everyday life. Provide that the learning environment is as easy to understand and use as Netflix, Amazon, and similar.

Colours and symbols will help orientation.

Use colours and symbols to identify tasks and instructions in the learning environment. Learners will find their way around better and thus will use their energy for what matters most.

Keep it short.

Especially for onboarding, less is more. Be brief and concise, even if the information imparted is extensive and necessary for a successful start to a job.

When communicating text, for example, it is essential to keep sentences and paragraphs short. Include keywords in bold print, use bullet points wherever it makes sense, and generally use more straightforward and more generally understandable language.

Manage the complexity.

Precisely because “You grow with the challenges” applies, ensure that the new personnel have an adequate level of difficulty. If a task is too difficult, the person may lose interest, and in the worst case, may drop out. The tasks in onboarding should be challenging but still feasible. Allow newcomers to develop their talents!

Any onboarding process should be light and positive, a warm welcome to people new to the company and its culture. These tips will undoubtedly help you achieve that.
